Appointments
Appointments are normally made in advance. This gives you the opportunity
to see the doctor of your choice and reduces the time you spend
in the
waiting room.
When you call for an appointment, you
will be asked several questions concerning your medical needs. This
helps us schedule adequate time for your appointment and helps us to
be better prepared for your visit. If you are unable to keep an appointment,
please contact our office as early as possible.
Although we do our best to stay on
schedule each day, urgent problems may cause unforeseen delays. We
appreciate
your understanding in these instances. |

Our Family Physicians are trained in the specialty of family practice. Each
doctor is uniquely qualified to care for you and your family. From delivering
babies to caring for the elderly, our doctors provide total, ongoing
care during health, illness and rehabilitation for the entire family. |
Saturday Hours
We are open for your convenience 6 days a week.
Monday through Friday, we have a full staff, and are ready to take care of all of your medical needs.
Saturday, we are open 9am – noon, and have a very limited staff. Saturdays are set aside for people who have medical problems that cannot wait until after the weekend. To serve the public better, we ask that on Saturdays, you call before coming in to be seen.
Because we only have one nurse, one secretary and one doctor on Saturday - 9 am is actually the busiest time of that day for us.
So, please call before coming in on a Saturday, please know that we can only handle medical problems that are “acute” – which means that the problem cannot wait until Monday, and that there will be a longer wait to see a nurse or doctor on Saturdays.
We appreciate your business, and your patience!
Telephone Calls ..... 684-2228
Calls about appointments and non-emergency medical questions should
be made during routine office hours 8-5. Questions about medical care are
routed to
a nurse who will consult a doctor and call you for non-emergencies. Doctors
generally return calls later in the afternoon, when they have finished seeing
patients.
Emergency Physician
Each day, one doctor is designated as the emergency physician. He or
she will see same day appointments, walk-ins and cover the emergency room in
the hospital. The emergency doctor allows us to provide same day service for
patients with urgent care needs. Appointments may be cancelled if an emergency
arises.
Physician Assistants
. Traci Darnell, PA, works with the doctor who is the emergency physician for the day. This makes it easier for patients to get appointments on the same day that they call.
So - who is a Physician Assistant?
PAs are advanced practice clinicians, and obtain medical histories, perform examinations and procedures, order treatments, diagnose illnesses, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic tests, refer patients to specialists when appropriate and first-assist in surgery. They are employed in primary care or in specialties in urban or rural regions, as well as in academic programs. PAs may practice in any medical or surgical specialty, and have the ability to move to different medical and surgical fields during their careers.
PAs are licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision, which may be either in person, by telecommunication system or by other reliable means (for example, regular chart review and consultation). The physician supervision, in most cases, need not be direct or on-site, and many PAs practice in remote or underserved areas in satellite clinics.
All states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, the United States Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, have laws or regulations authorizing physician assistants to practice medicine. PAs also perscribe medications to patients.
Traci sees patients and treats basic medical problems. She works under the supervision of the Family Physicians at the Family Medical Center..
